SANDEEP GILL
DIRECTOR
COMMERCIAL FILM

I help brands tell stories by directing films.
These are some of those films.

INT. OFFICE

ECU on Worker’s face. Bored. Lost. Dejected. Blinks a couple of times.

V/O
Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
Or so I thought.

[Camera begins to pull back, revealing an office.]

V/O
Because I’ve found inner happiness.
Not through meditation in Bali – but within the walls of this office.

[Camera pulls further back to reveal other workers, running, playing.]

V/O
You need to seize the eight-hour day – test things, try things.

Be patient, curious, steadfast.

Don't think short-term, status, money.

Find meaning, fulfillment, friendship.

Work is Boring (2020)

INT. ABSTRACT OFFICE. DAY

SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD sits at desk facing camera looking pensive.
As he speaks the ads he mentions pop up around him.

SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD
Hi... If you’ve seen this, this, or this, recently, I’m the reason why. I do the social media advertising at Perkbox and for reasons pertaining to my personal well-being, I have to stop working with images of cakes.

CUT AWAY:

INT. OFFICE. DAY

The camera swings around and a laptop screen is lowered to reveal the same pile of cupcakes piled behind it.
A hand greedily snatches at one.

CUT BACK:

SOCIAL MEDIA LEAD
So you’ll be relieved to know that I’m doing something different with this advert. There will be no sweets. No lollies. And definitely no cupcakes.

I want to talk directly to you.

[Social Media Lead loses concentration and breaks from script]

Actually, sorry - can we keep one? Because I want to prove these is no temptation.
Not that there would be any temptation.

Sweet Revenge (2020)

INT. ABSTRACT OFFICE. DAY

BOSS stands assertively looking straight down the barrel of the lens.

BOSS
Can I tell you a secret? Bosses want their employees to like them. We're not terrible people. These people power my business, they keep this place in order, and they keep me awake caffeinated. Which is why I’m always looking for new ways to thank them.

JAMES excitedly jumps up from his desk.

JAMES
I made a sale!

BOSS
What are you waiting for? Spin the Wheel of Victory!

James spins and lands on “Unicorn”.

CUT AWAY:

Magical, sparkly, absolutely real, unicorn, stood majesticaly on an ethereal stage.

CUT BACK TO:

Wide shot of the set with huge lights and flags

Best Boss (2019)

INT. OFFICE 1. DAY

Camera tracks across scene as, HR PRO is fixated with laptop, EMPLOYEE 1 struggles in body cast, Employee 2 has a black cloud looming above them. And at the end, SICK EMPLOYEE with broken leg cold.

V/O
Ignoring the wellbeing of your employees is costly.

[Sick Employee at desk sneezes and handed some money £570 to wipe their nose on.]

V/O
Especially when absenteeism sets you back £570 a year per employee.

[Sand timer is placed on desk next to Sick Employee.]

V/O
And seeing a GP can take up to two weeks.

[Sick Employees head drops as sand falls through timer.]

V/O
Leaving employees feeling sicker and less productive for longer.

But you've heard of all the wellbeing crazes.

And not everyone wants to go to the gym.

V/O
You could motivate your employees with the carrot or the stick.

INT. OFFICE 1. DAY

V/O
But they only build cultures of resentment.

INT. OFFICE 1. DAY

HR Pro tries using nunchucks and accidentally smashes computer. Employee 2 reacts in fear.

V/O
And fear.
Leaving everyone on edge.

V/O
Perkbox uses recognition to create a culture of thanks.

V/O
And makes them a whole lot happier.

INT. OFFICE 2. DAY
